We have been closely following the Federal, State and Industry requirements and recommendations and have implemented the following changes to increase the safety of our Patients and Staff.

  1. Physical Distancing:
    • Remote telemedicine exam options that are HIPAA compliant and secure.
    • Parking lot waiting room. Appointment check in using text or phone call allows patient to wait in their vehicle until the office is ready to begin their exam.
    • Appointments will be limited to patients, necessary caregivers and guardians only.
    • New, large office space allows for 6 ft physical distancing recommendations.
    • Patient portal with access to electronic forms and secure system to upload insurance cards and ID.
  2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
    • Patients to wear their own cloth or surgical mask to the clinic and during their visit.
    • Staff to wear surgical masks, gloves and other PPE when appropriate during patient care.
    • Clear acrylic breath shields installed throughout the office.
  3. Infection Control and Sterilization:
    • Patients are screened prior to appointment and day of appointment for signs and symptoms of illness.
    • Hand sanitizer to be used by patient when entering and leaving office.
    • Patients, Doctor and all staff will have temperature checked when entering the building.
    • Appropriate hand hygiene practiced by all staff.
    • Extra cleaning and disinfecting practices have been implemented.
    • Frame/glasses sterilization achieved with our new OpticWash system with UV-C light.
    • Increased air circulation with virus filtration system.
  4. Examination Safety:
    • Remote/computer controlled equipment to aid in distancing from patient.
    • Microscope with breath shield and video camera with monitor display.
    • Retinal cameras provide option of photo evaluation instead of close, physical evaluation. This is strongly encouraged. Patient pays a nominal fee for this service.
    • Eye pressure measurements using single use, disposable components.
  5. Optical and Frame Selection Safety:
    • OpticWash frame disinfection system with UV-C light sterilization.
    • Clear acrylic breath shields in place throughout optical area.
    • Staff assisted frame selection.
    • Frames sterilized prior to patient handling.
